Learn the techniques of the Samurai and Ninja.

Dynamic and effective self defence system.

Dating back some 900 years Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (Ninjutsu). teaches the armed and unarmed fighting techniques of the Samurai and Ninja. An ancient art which is just as effective today, to that end the techniques we study are still taught to law enforcement and special forces around the world.

About Hangeki Bujinkan Ninjutsu

"We should walk a mile to avoid fighting but if unavoidable not back down an inch".

We are one of only a few Dojos in the South West teaching Ninjutsu as its been passes down through hundreds of years. We study the art extensively and utilise techniques and traditional weapons as did the Samurai and Ninja. We offer training in a safe and friendly environment and have a great body of both male and female students. The lead instructor Jamie Brown is currently Shidoshi-Ho 4th Dan and has full instructor insurance and liability cover.

What you can expect.

Tuesday evenings from 6.45 to 8.15pm.

Our classes start with a full body stretch to warm up. After a traditional bowing in ritual we take to the mats for some Kaiten and Ukemi (rolling and breakfall practice). We then start the scheduled techniques which can include; striking, joint locks, throws, grappling, weapons training, kicking techniques, counter techniques, controlling techniques and much more. We also talk through how the techniques were practiced in ancient times and how they can be used today. Our ethos is not to start conflict but certainly how to end it. All this is undertaken without ego or a bad heart and our classes always include laughter and a jovial atmosphere. Everyone is equal.

Mental and physical health.

No matter how experienced you are, there’s always more room to perfect your form and master the art of self defence. Along with learning these fascinating historical techniques we are striving to develop and maintain our mental and physical wellbeing.

Martial arts for mindfulness.

Sometimes it can be hard to have faith in your abilities, especially when you're stressed and overworked. We train to defend ourselves and those around us but also to give us the confidence to enjoy our life and create the breathing space we all need to live it fully.

Weapons.

We do train with traditional Japanese weapons safely at our dojo so that we can maintain the historic link to the lineage of our art. Some of the weapons we use are the Bokken (wooden practice sword). Katana (long sword).Tanto (knife or dagger). Bo (6 foot staff). Hanbo (short staff). Kasari fundo (weighted chain). Shuriken (throwing blades/stars).  Kunai, Naginata, Tessen, Jutte and many others.

Budo.

Budo the martial way not only teaches battlefield effective combat, self defence and how to defeat one's enemy, it also teaches respect and discipline. We believe that the respect and discipline shown in the dojo should be carried on beyond the doors and into life.
